Take Art is a pioneering arts charity and driving force for developing and connecting the arts with individuals and communities in Somerset, providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to experience, participate and work within the arts (www.takeart.org). Based on a farm near South Petherton, Take Art is the ‘glue’ that brings people and communities together in new ways.
Tangle and Take Art are strategic partners, with Tangle having its administrative base at the Somerset arts organisation. The companies work together to deliver inspiring African Caribbean led theatre across the county.
Tangle and Take Art also collaborate on growing and developing new audiences for diverse work, demonstrating increased cross-community engagement and a commitment to nurturing inclusivity.
Mark Helyar, Co-Director of Theatre at Take Art, says: ‘Our relationship with Tangle continues to grow creatively as we build on our shared passion for supporting new, multi-racial theatre opportunities in Somerset. Our central geographic position in the region, combined with our strategic knowledge and expertise in making and touring rural theatre, creates an unbeatable jumping off point for the company to work across the South West. We’re thrilled by the possibilities that are emerging.’
One of the particular joys of the partnership is programming Tangle’s shows in venues such as the Royal Oak pub in Crewkerne: a great example of how Tangle is building relationships with local communities in Somerset.
