Tangle is an African Caribbean Theatre Company with a special focus in South West England. We celebrate the work of artists of African, Caribbean and more than 50 other heritages. Our work integrates, asserts and celebrates their brilliant contribution to UK theatre, particularly in rural areas where there is little inter-cultural interface.
We have a year-round programme of touring productions, discovery projects and strategic research that helps grow a creative breeding ground where many world views, languages and outlooks are positively championed in the UK’s fast changing social context. By building bridges between different cultures, we aim to increase social cohesion and cultural understanding across South West England and beyond.
We work across the South West – the UK’s largest and most rural region and we are based at Prime Theatre in Swindon, Wiltshire. We are a member of UK Theatre and of Sustained Theatre Bristol, and an Affiliate Member of The London Hub of Sustained Theatre.
Our creative programme operates in three distinct areas: productions, discovery, and strategy projects. Our touring theatre productions focus on rejuvenating classic texts with a distinct aesthetic – combining some Western theatre approaches with the township- style approach of Southern Africa.
Tangle projects build abilities and confidence at every career stage. If you’re interested in learning, growing skills and finding out more about inter-cultural theatre, there will be something that interests you about Tangle!
