Tangle’s 2014 Art Commission

Nick Taylor's Tangle Art Commission 18

Our 2014 art commission was a unique work by painter Nick Taylor. A published poet, playwright and journalist, he spent a decade researching and writing his book, ‘The Parable of His-Story‘, which was published by O-books in 2011 and translated into Korean in 2013. Nick began painting in 2012 and had his first solo show in 2013.

Nick created the piece on the large wall of Yinka Shonibare’s Guest Projects – a depiction of all the places we visited in the South West whilst touring The Mandela Project.

While Nick was painting the masterpiece we kept the subject of the painting a secret, releasing clues everyday via #WhatsNickPainting.  Those who correctly guessed the subject won a set of signed and limited edition postcards by Nick (congratulations to Jenney Robinson and the guys at Forest Forge).

You can re-cap on Nick’s process in the photo gallery below.

This 2014 art commission followed on from Miriam Nabarro’s Global Community in 2012 and Colin Falconer’s installation for Dream Nation last year.
