We are very pleased to announce that Deborah Baddoo MBE will be joining us as Executive Director from September. Deborah will work closely with our Artistic Director, Anna Coombs to develop our regional and national profile. She will lead our administrative arm, providing the strongest possible foundations for our artistic programme to flourish.
A performer and choreographer in her own right, in the fields of jazz and African contemporary dance, Deborah set up Pyramid Dance Studio in London in 1985, which was instrumental in providing a launch pad for many artists and companies. In 1986 she co-founded State of Emergency, a performance and production company committed to the creation of high quality work, and creativity and innovation in the fields of dance and music. As Artistic Director of State of Emergency she established a national and international reputation for the company.
Throughout her varied career she has pursued a passionate, long-term vision to support the development of Black dance, choreography and performing arts nationally and internationally. In 2010 she was awarded an MBE for services to British dance.
Deborah said, ‘I am delighted to be working with Tangle in its new phase of development. It is a unique company with a very special product and I relish the opportunity of being part of the journey to help the company reach its true potential.’
Anna Coombs said, ‘We are all excited to be working with Deborah, a remarkable enabler and originator of live performance in our home region and beyond it. I know she will bring much to Tangle as it enters a new and exciting stage in development.‘
Please join us in welcoming Deborah to the team.
